The 2 day safari leads you to lake mburo national park which is the smallest savannah park in Uganda, measuring 370 square kilometers. It is the most accessible of parks being located along the Kampala Mbarara highway in the western districts of Mbarara and Kiruhura. The park is small but with varied habitats for its size. These range from acacia woodland, dry hillsides, rocky outcrops, bushy thickets, open and wooded savannah, seasonal and permanent swamps. It small size should not make you think there is nothing to keep you occupied. There are 14 lakes surrounding the park, 5 of which are found within the boundaries of lake mburo national park. These lakes are part of a wetland system that is linked by a swamp that is some 50 km long, fed by the Ruizi River on the western side. Lake Mburo is the largest of the lakes and it is decorated by an array of fishing villages, some of which are ideal for sport fishing.

  • After an early breakfast, you will be picked up in Kampala by one of our experienced driver-guides and transferred to Lake Mburo National Park. Once you reached the park, you shall head out for a game drive through the park. If we are lucky, we might even spot a leopard resting on a tree in the midday heat. So, get your camera ready for the ultimate shot. After the game drive, we will have lunch at the Park's Restaurant near the lake. Thereafter, we will go on a 2-hours boat cruise on Lake Mburo, where we have the chance to explore the wildlife-rich eastern banks of Lake Mburo. Keep an eye out for crocodiles, buffaloes and hippos as well as plenty of bird species. You will also see a number of warthogs moving around the area. We will transfer to the lodge for dinner & overnight.

Game Walk through the Park in the Morning, Game Drive & Transfer from Lake Mburo National Park to Kampala with a Stopover at the Equator Line

  • Have an early breakfast and head out for a morning game walk to discover the parks beautiful nature and wildlife on foot. If we are lucky we might spot a herd of Africa's biggest antelope: the eland, which is only found in Mburo National Park. You will also have views of Zebras, impalas etc and scenic views of the green vegetation within which the animals enjoy their stay. The time is perfect since many birds are usually still out making noise as well as some animals. After the game walk, we return to the lodge to freshen up and relax. You shall have lunch at the lodge. In the early afternoon, you shall go on another game drive through the park. Thereafter, we will leave Lake Mburo NP and return to Kampala. On the way to Kampala, we have the possibility to stop at the Equator Line depending on the time. Your safari guide will drop you off in Kampala.
