Jinja is known to be a refuge for conservationists and arousal seekers alike. You will witness giant monitor lizards and river otters swimming in the river. Over 130 species of birds have been spotted around the island. While here, you will hve your ears treated to some of the melodious tunes of birds, as you walk on the same soil that celebrities such as Prince William, Ginger Spice, Mikka Hakkanen, Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorma stepped on. At the source, the waters in some areas are clear rather than profound and in others wavy and churning. You will see the Nile piercing the soils of Jinja whilst navigating its way upwards to the North. The air freshness in the area is synonymous with perfection, making breathing a telltale sign.

The main activities during this Jinja weekend gateaway include: rafting, all day white water kayaking, stand up paddleboard tour, source of the Nile cruise, fishing, horse riding, quad biking, half a day water cruising and wildwaters kayaking cruise. For those interested in horse riding, the short safari usually starts at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. every day. There's also river ride quad biking-free training, followed by a 2 hour safari. This is the most popular trip. The trail follows the Nile downstream from the Bujagali Falls, below the dam area, and then away from the riverbanks through the farmland and forest of rural Uganda. White Water Rafting is also existent and it is the main reason why the area is visited. The sunset cruise starts near Jinja and cruises on the northern shores of Lake Victoria, where you can visit various historic sites and attractions, including the source of the Nile. This will bring your Jinja weekend gateaway to an end.

When to visit.

Thanks to its altitude, Uganda has a pleasant, temperate-tropical climate that has hardly any seasonal temperature fluctuations due to its location on the equator. The place has two rainy seasons from the end of March to May and from October to November, but the rainfall varies considerably within the place.
